Patrick has the amazing ability to make anything and everything more joyous & more fun! He is one of the best people I will ever know, and my heart is broken knowing that he is gone. I have so many wonderful memories with Patrick from our time in grad school together – particular the great NY to SF roadtrip of 2000 that Jeremy already posted about. I will make one small correction to his post – Patrick didn’t just win America’s heart, technically Canada’s too! (Long story, short: we got stuck in Canada because the border closed, but Patrick -- making friends wherever he goes -- managed to find us a room to sleep in for the night!)
Patrick was an excellent tour guide and without him, I never would have visited San Jose hot spots like the Dairy Belle and Olivera Egg Ranch. Patrick introduced me to the deliciousness of a Cape Cod, the surreal perfection of the Olson twin’s straight-to-VHS films, and the joy in just dancing like you don’t care what anyone thinks. I miss you Patrick.
